PROPOSAL

The genre of my music magazine will be Hip Hop as it is a mainstream music genre attracting a large audience in today’s English speaking society. The primary demographic target audience for this music genre is young black males living in English spoken countries, but through the elements in the magazine it will appeal to both genders. People that fit in the socio-economic category of students and casual workers would buy this magazine, because it includes information that interest’s young people. As the target audience is young people, the price of it will be affordable at the cost of £2.50. The psychographic group of people that will buy this are the largest group of people referred to mainstreamers, this is because they’re concerned with stability and security therefore they consume well recognized texts that will keep them up to date with media. The masthead for my magazine will be named “DEZAE” which will be in the font ‘True Lies’ that I have found through my font research in the website – www.dafont.com. The house style of my magazine will be consistent throughout, by the use of my colour scheme which is red and black. The reason for those two colours is because they have both feminine and masculine connotations. Red signifies power, sexiness, danger, determination which shows a broad theme within the use of it in the magazine. Also, all my cover lines will be written in bold serif font as it will catch the audience’s attention through the size and boldness of it. The body text will be written in serif to make the writing easier and quicker for the readers to read as they could be put off by a block of writing. The writing will be located from left to right as it is the reading order we follow. The page number will be in the right bottom corner of the magazine as that is where we turn the pages over from as it allows us to find page numbers quicker. As mentioned previously the masthead will be “DEZAE” and the strapline will be “The BIG return of Britain’s heart-throb”. The use of the capitalized word in the sentence will keep the audience intrigued as they would want to find more about the feature of this magazine which is the celebrity who is the main image. Smaller cover lines will be included around the main image to attract a smaller audience for those specific stories. An additional element will be used such as the plug to make the audience want to buy the magazine to find the exclusiveness of it. The magazine will have 30 pages in which I will be designing only 4. These 4 pages will consist of the front cover, contents page, and double page spread.

  1. "The body text will be written in sans serif to make the writing easier and quicker for the readers to read." Conventionally, and as explained in the lesson dedicated to font types and in the resources in the student's area, extended printed texts are written in serif font types, precisely in order to improve the readability of the text. So your statement is contradictory and needs further explanation.

    1. Sorry, i misunderstood and mixed them up. I have changed sans serif to serif and included that it is easier to read and does not put the readers off blocks of writing. Thanks

  2. "Red portrays power, sexiness, danger,..." Red does not portray these attributes, but CONNOTES these qualities.

    1. I have aligned it to left instead of the centre and I have increased the spacing to 1.15 to improve readability as you have mentioned.

  5. Please revise this text and improve the grammar ("The magazine is English written therefore English spoken people would buy it that fit in the socio-economic category of students and casual workers") You can write better than this ("English spoken people")
